How to install Pure OS 6.0
In this tutorial, we will explain how to install Pure OS 6.0. There are slight differences in how to install Pure OS 6.0 is compared to other Linux distributions installation. We must prepare for hard disk partition first before doing the installation. Consider how we install Pure OS 6.0 below. Maybe it’s better you read our previous post about the Pure OS 6.0 Screenshots.
Download Pure OS 6.0 ISO first before continuing to this tutorial. When you have the ISO, boot your computer using Pure OS 6.0 ISO. On Pure OS 6.0 desktop, open GParted first. We need to create partitions to handle the installation. Go to Applications | System Tools | Administration | GParted Partition Editor
Now we need to create an Ext4 formatted partition and a swap partition for Pure OS 6.0 do the following using GParted
Select your hard disk from the list. On this example, my hard disk is recognized as /dev/sda. Then, right click on the unallocated disk and select New.
Enter the new size of the partition and make sure you select ext4 on the File System. Please remember not to use the entire disk space because we still need to add new partition for swap. Press Add when ready
Now we need to create a new partition for Linux-swap. Right click on the unallocated part of the disk and select New.
Enter the new size and select linux-swap on the file-system option. Press Add when ready. When done, go to Edit | Apply all Operation. Your hard disk will be re-partitioned and reformat. Please consider backup if you have data inside the disk.
OK, now we can start installing Pure OS 6.0 onto the disk. Go to Applications | Other | Install Pure OS. Enter “root” as root password when asked. On the first screen on the Pure OS installation wizard press YES to continue.
Now select the partition where Pure OS will be installed. At this case is /mnt/sda1
Now select the disk for the installation of GRUB
Enter your new root password
Now everything is ready to start the installation. Press Yes to start the installation.
Now the installer will perform system copy. When done, simply reboot your PC and Pure OS 6.0 should be ready.
