Tutorial Install Debian 6.0.4 using Text Installer part 1

For an advanced users and for you who loves text mode installation, here we will show you how to install Debian 6.0.4 on a computer using Text Mode installation. Using this method will simplified the installation process and good for server installation. First, you may need to download the Debian 6.0.4 ISO and also you can watch some nice screenshots of Debian 6.0.4.

First, boot your computer using bootable media such as USB Flash disk or DVD. You may need to read how to create bootable flash disk for Linux distribution.

On the first boot menu, select Text Install from the list by moving your keyboard arrow up and down.

On the next window, select your installation language from the list.

Now select your keyboard layout

Then Debian installer will start copying files to your system. Next give the hostname for your new system

Now the installer needs to configure your network configuration. In this example, I select to use DHCP since my network has a DHCP server enabled.

Now enter the system domain. You may leave this blank if you don’t know.

Now we need to setup new user and root password. This password will be the administrative password for root. Then verify it to continue.

Now create new user for your system. You will also need to add password to it.

Now select your time zone from the list
